Presented educational double-concert “What are the brass” focused on American music

The educational concert of the chamber section of Moravia Brass Band popularizes the brass instruments among young listeners. The concert not only introduces basic brass instruments such as trumpet, French horn, trombone and tuba, but also shows the instruments in their natural environment. What that means is that it introduces children to the multi-genre possibilities of these interesting instruments through arrangements of classical music, film score, jazz and folk music. It also aims to cover the connections between Czech brass music and music from around the world, with a focus on American music. The concert is enhanced by percussion section and engagingly presented by Jiří Kokmotos.

Moravia Brass Band, chamber section

Moravia Brass Band is the largest brass-only ensemble in the Czech Republic. Its chamber section was founded to promote brass instruments to children and young people in the “What are brass bands” programme.
The section consists of nine musicians, members of the Moravia Brass Band, and a moderator. In the roughly one-hour program, children will learn in an entertaining way about the form of all brass instruments, including historical ones.
Moravia Brass Band was founded in 2017. In that time, it has been led by leading conductors such as Chuhei Iwasaki, Robert Kružík and Heiko Mathias Förster. Thanks to them and the high artistic level of the players, who are among the best brass players in our country, the ensemble quickly reached festivals such as the International Festival Prague Spring, Moravian Autumn, International Music Festival Špilberk, Concentus Moraviae, Smetana Litomyšl, St. Wenceslas Music Festival, Smetana Days, Festival Cuivres en Dombe in France and in 2021 became the resident orchestra of the Brno Brass Fest. Moravia Brass Band also collaborates on projects with various musical ensembles and regularly performs in Dresden, Munich and Zurich.
The quality of the orchestra is evidenced by the fact that leading soloists such as horn player Radek Baborák, trumpeter of Berliner Philharmoniker Gábor Tarkövi, Zoltán Kiss and others have chosen to cooperate with the band. The ensemble is managed by horn player Kristýna Ratajová and trumpeters Lukáš Daněk and Vít Němeček.
