Programme: Jaz Coleman’s arrangements of now-legendary songs “Mezi horami” (Among the Mountains), “Proměny” (Transformations), “Slunéčko” (Sunshine) or “Velické zvony” (Bells of Velička), enriched with new titles by Adam Sztaba,  for Čechomor and the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra Olomouc combine wild melodies with breath-taking orchestral colours. Come and say goodbye in a poetic way to the 5th year of LVHF! The ticket includes a discussion with painter and graphic artist Antonín Vojtek, starting at 6 p.m. in the Valtice Castle Riding Hall.

In 2018, the band Čechomor celebrated thirty years since its formation. It has won their supporters and respect of critics mainly by their imaginative arrangement and distinctive interpretation of music, which was based on folk songs. It has been 17 years since the breakthrough year 2001, when Čechomor won three Anděl Awards (as a band of the year, for the album Proměny and for the song of the same name). The band has toured not only at home and in Slovakia, but also throughout Europe, North America, Australia and Asia. Čechomor has collaborated with several prominent music producers (Ben Mendelson, Gerry Leonard) and performed with several symphonic ensembles, the Japanese musician Joji Hirota, the American songwriter Suzanne Vega and many other artists. In recent years, musicians grouped around the leaders of the band František Černý and Karel Holas have worked hard on a new modern sound, more distinctive arrangement and on a new repertoire. This is highlighted by the last album Nadechnutí (2018).

Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra
Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the foremost and oldest symphony orchestras in the Czech Republic. It is based in the historical capital of Moravia, the city of Olomouc, and has been a leader of music activities in the region for the past 70 years. Its artistic development was directly influenced by distinguished figures from the Czech and international music scene. Namely, they include conductors like Otto Klemperer and Václav Neumann, violinists Josef Suk and Gidon Kremer, or violoncellist Pierre Fournier. During its long history, The Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra has put together an exceptionally broad, rich and varied repertoire. Its focus is mostly on the grand figures of classical music of the 19th and 20th century. Nonetheless, it also seeks to promote contemporary Czech and worldwide musical compositions, as evidenced by the fact that the Orchestra has performed over 250 new compositions. Moreover, the Orchestra is an authentic performer of Czech classics such as Antonín Dvořák, Bedřich Smetana, Leoš Janáček, and Bohuslav Martinů. The Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra takes pride in having a rich discography under its belt and performing at renowned international festivals both in the Czech Republic and abroad. However, first and foremost, it is a cultural institution and a major contributor to the organization of artistic life in the region of Olomouc. It holds the Dvořák’s Olomouc festival and the International Organ Festival and organizes several educational activities for children and young people.

Jan Kučera (Conductor)
The conductor, composer and pianist Jan Kučera is one of the most versatile Czech artists. He studied composition with Bohuslav Řehoř at the Prague Conservatory and conducting with Miriam Němcová and Miroslav Košler. He then developed the conducting at Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts, Prague under the leadership of Vladimír Válek. As a composer, he is involved in many areas, creating symphonic and chamber music. At the same time, he has made over thirty scenic compositions for productions of Prague and regional theatre scenes. As a conductor, he has been constantly working with leading Czech orchestras, especially the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK. Also, he has been the principal conductor of the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra since the 2015/16 season. He also works on the opera scene. At the New Stage of the National Theater in Prague, he presented his comic opera The Red Mary, composed on the theme of the cult radio series Rodinka Tluchořových(“The Tluchoř Family”) by Oldřich Kaiser and Jiří Lábus. In January 2016, he staged Gioacchino Rossini’s opera La Cenerentola at the National Theater. Additionally, he is author of the ballets The Three Musketeers and The Taming of the Shrew. He applied his multi-genre perspective to the project Wanted with Dagmar Pecková, to re-study the epic scenic form of Mass by Leonard Bernstein or during a concert with Adam Plachetka at the O2 Arena in Prague.
