Piece of news - Friday June 7th, 2024

Dear fans of classical music,

We are honoured to welcome you again to the Lednice-Valtice Music Festival, which is entering its ninth edition this year. Annually, we strive to bring unique and inspiring programme and this year we have decided to dedicate our festival to the theme of Freemasonry and its influence on music.

With its mystery and philosophy, Freemasonry has always attracted the attention of artists and musicians. Music, as a global language, has often served as an expression of the ideals and ideas of this mysterious society. Our festival will present works by composers who were members of Masonic lodges, both from the Czech Republic and abroad. You will hear masterpieces that were influenced by these ideals and whose composers sought a deeper meaning and connection to universal harmony in their music.

This year’s edition will bring the performance of several compositions that will be performed for the first time in modern history. Particularly, I am looking forward to the opera ouverture Osiris and Offertorium by Johann Gottlieb Naumann (from Valtice music collection) or Symphonie der Freÿmaurer (Freemasonic Symphony) by Jan David Holland, which has been found in the Music archive of the Florence Conservatory. Besides, Sinfonia in G by Carl Friedrich Abel, a Freemason and chamber musician to British Queen Charlotte, discovered in the catalogue of the Valtice music collection will be performed. Furthermore, visitors will have the unique opportunity to hear one of the world’s finest violinists, Maxim Vengerov, perform the violin concertos of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. You can look forward to concerts not only in the iconic locations of the Lednice-Valtice area, but also in the brand-new concert venues we have discovered for you. These include the Moravský Krumlov Chateau and the Lány Chateau, located in the heart of the game forest park Soutok.

Accept our warm invitation and come and enjoy LVMF 2024 with us. We are looking forward to our joint experience!
